Iran, Pakistan discuss cooperation on fighting narcotics

The meeting was held on Monday in Iran Anti-Narcotics Police office.

Iran and Pakistan enjoy good cooperation in fighting illegal drugs, Nawaz Malik said. 

Commenting on UN aids to both countries in countering narcotics, he said Pakistan has called the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for educational, budgetary, technology and equipment helps. 

Planting opium poppy has been stopped since 2001 in Pakistan but the narcotic Hashish is imported from Afghanistan to Pakistan, he added.

Due to its better infrastructures, Iran has taken more effective measures at Pakistan border crossing, he noted.

Iran excels Pakistan in executing anti-drugs laws, Pakistani officer added.

Meanwhile, Zahedian said about 60%-65% of drugs are imported to Iran through Pakistan border.

We are determined to prepare the grounds for preventing drug trafficking to Iran, he said. 

Both countries have good relations in fighting narcotics, smuggling, fighting outlaws at border lines.
